Executive Recruiter | Contract/FT: Pre-IPO Biotech Company: NJ

Contract: 6 months, with potential to convert

A well-funded, pre-IPO clinical-stage biotech is seeking an experienced Executive Recruiter to join its Talent Acquisition team on a contract basis. This is a highly visible opportunity to help build leadership pipelines and support senior-level hiring during a critical phase of growth and organizational scaling.

The ideal candidate is currently recruiting in-house within a biotech or life sciences organization and brings prior executive search firm experience earlier in their career.

Our client is a well-capitalized, pre-IPO biotech with a strong clinical pipeline and an experienced leadership team. The company is entering a pivotal stage of growth, with significant investment in building out its leadership team and organizational infrastructure ahead of future milestones.

This is a high-impact, mission-driven environment where Talent Acquisition is viewed as a strategic function, playing a central role in shaping the company’s future leadership bench and supporting long-term success.

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Vice President, People & Culture Business Partner & Head of Talent Acquisition, the Executive Recruiter will focus primarily on senior-level hiring, including Director, VP, and executive-level roles. Approximately 70% of current hiring activity is at the senior level, with additional support across other functions as needed.

This individual will play a key role in building proactive pipelines, engaging passive talent, and partnering closely with senior stakeholders to support both immediate hiring needs and long-term succession planning.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and support recruiting efforts for Director, VP, and executive-level roles
  • Build proactive, research-driven talent pipelines aligned to succession planning and future growth
  • Conduct market mapping, competitive intelligence, and targeted sourcing across biotech and life sciences
  • Partner closely with senior leaders to define role requirements and talent strategies
  • Engage passive candidates through thoughtful, high-touch outreach
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting processes as needed across senior and select mid-level roles
  • Deliver a polished, high-quality candidate experience appropriate for executive-level talent

Qualifications / Requirements

IDEAL BACKGROUND:

  • Current in-house recruiting experience within biotech, pharma, or life sciences
  • Prior experience in an executive search or retained search firm earlier in career strongly preferred
  • Proven success recruiting Director-level and above talent, including VP and/or C-suite
  • Strong understanding of the biotech/life sciences talent landscape
  • Demonstrated ability to build pipelines, not just fill active requisitions
  • Experience partnering with senior executives and influencing hiring decisions
  • Strategic, consultative, and highly organized recruiting approach
